Sound management practices are an essential element of Aboriginal governance. This course takes a comprehensive look at the importance of good management practices and some of the tools to help build and maintain good practice. This course will provide the course participant with a broad based understanding of maintaining good values and ethics within the workplace. The course will cover business ethics, human resources management fundamentals, types of ethical situations, the role of managers, as well as financial ethics.

Values and Ethics in the Aboriginal Workplace

This course builds on Aboriginal Program Management. The course provides practical learning objectives that relate to management competencies for band administrators and managers. The course will support staff leaders and those aspiring to staff leadership positions in the development of new knowledge and skills. It will enhance capacity to guide organizations and support elected leaders. Topic areas to be covered include: policy; planning; managing human resources, benchmarking and best practices, government relations, community relations, financial issues, organization issues, and operational issues.
