This guidebook is about First Nations developing their own approaches to evaluating how well community programs are achieving community goals. It presents ideas and options for First Nations to consider in developing self-evaluation tools that reflect Aboriginal communities, traditions and priorities.
The guidebook was developed by a First Nations Working Group on Performance Measurement and the Department of Audit and Evaluation Branch, Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development in October 1998.

AFOA is pleased to make available to AFOA members a recently released report on best practices undertaken by the National Aboriginal Capital Corporation Association. (NACCA).
The 180 page report draws from best practices of non-profit organizations, corporations and Aboriginal Financial Institutions in Canada and elsewhere. While the report was written specifically for Aboriginal Financial Institutions, much of the content is applicable to Aboriginal community-based organizations and non-profits particularly as it focuses on governance and human resources.
