"The 2014 Conference was another great opportunity to learn about some stellar initiatives in governance and financial management occurring across the land.  It was super to see so many participants actively engaged in the sessions.  I have heard since about several business relationships formed at the conference through the networking opportunities.   The exchange of great ideas spawned at the conference continues."

Aligning Towards a Common Destination

There are an abundance of activities occurring within Aboriginal Communities today.   The past year has highlighted the need to focus on fundamental areas such as citizen engagement, community planning and economic development.   Aboriginal communities are experiencing significant financial pressures while trying to achieve community goals.   Population increases and funding reductions are causing managers within communities to take a hard look at the way they are conducting their operations.   Where is this all taking us?  Aboriginal communities need to decide what the end goal is for their community and that of the broader Aboriginal communities in Canada.   Should our communities and institutions align toward a common destination?    Are there different options on what the end goal means to these communities?   This conference will focus on the importance of contributing toward aligning efforts toward a common destination and the initiatives some communities and organizations are currently engaged in within Canada and abroad.  The conference will also provide some insights to key governance, management and financial issues at a local, regional, national and international level.
