CAFM Program Exemptions

To get credit for successfully completing an CAFM course offered by accredited Canadian universities and colleges, you must submit a "Request for Course Exemptions" Application. You must only request exemptions for which you are eligible for and see if they meet the standards set by the AFOA exemption policy, indicated on the application form.

Exemptions are based on the current Certified General Accountants (CGA) of Canada equivalency standards -those courses recognized as transfer credits towards the CGA designation are the same courses AFOA recognizes as course exemptions towards the CAFM program.

In order to qualify for an exemption for a CAFM program course, you must receive a pass mark based on the standards set by CGA Canada for your post-secondary institution. Exemptions will be granted on the basis of an official transcript of grades obtained at the university or college. The transcripts are retained by AFOA.

An administrative fee of $200 plus GST/HST is applied. AFOA Canada must receive payment prior to reviewing the transcript. For each additional exemption granted following the initial assessment, a fee of $10 plus GST/HST per exemption is applied. The administrative fees cover the cost of transcript evaluation, liaison with post-secondary schools and professional associations, research and curriculum development.
