Bio of Tamara (Tammy) Saulis, CAFM
the Chief Financial Officer of Nipissing First Nation, Tammy demonstrates
leadership skills that motivate and inspire others by making a measurable
impact on management, performance and governance. Her extensive knowledge and experience in
Aboriginal finance and management benefits her community, and allows her to
work closely with the senior management team to develop and deliver
comprehensive operational initiatives and solutions.
is an accomplished strategic leader with over 30 years’ experience in finance
and administration in not-for-profit Aboriginal organizations. She worked at a number of Aboriginal or
Aboriginal-related organizations in senior financial and management positions in
Ottawa prior to returning to her home community. Some of the organizations she has worked for
include the First Nations Statistical Institute, AFOA Canada, and the
Aboriginal Healing Foundation.
her current role, Tammy oversees day-to-day financial operations and provides
administrative direction to ensure Nipissing First Nation meets long-term
financial health and sustainability. She
manages budget and audit processes, accounting, purchasing, long-range
forecasting, and continues to strengthen financial systems on a daily basis. Tammy has championed the financial management
systems certification process resulting in Nipissing receiving FMS
Certification by the First Nations Financial Management Board in December 2016.
