Bio of Cathie Atkins, CAFM, CA
A Chartered Accountant, Cathie Atkins has been with the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies since September 1983, when she began as a self-employed financial consultant.
During her career, Ms. Atkins has gained a broad range of experience in financial administration including budgeting, financial reporting, compliance with legal and contractual requirements, and the establishment of financial controls and processes. In addition, she has gained considerable experience in the development and maintenance of information systems, and in the recruitment, training and supervision of accounting and administrative staff. She has been fortunate to work with and develop positive relationships with many people at the First Nations, Tribal Councils, and funding agencies.
After obtaining a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Saskatchewan, she articled with the firm of Touche Ross& Company and received her Chartered Accountant designation in January 1983. She was granted the Certified Aboriginal Financial Manager (CAFM) designation by the AFOA Canada in October 2000.
