Bio of Marilyn Osecap, CAFM

Marilyn Osecap lives in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and is a member of Moosomin First Nation in Saskatchewan. She is a graduate of the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies and the University of Saskatchewan; earning a Business Administration Diploma and a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting, respectively. She is also a designated Certified Aboriginal Financial Manager (CAFM).


With 30 years experience as an accountant, Marilyn’s previous positions have included Financial Services Controller for the St. Eugene Golf Resort & Casino; Finance Manager for the Saskatchewan Indian Equity Foundation and Finance Manager for the Painted Hand Casino.


Marilyn’s commitment to the First Nation community is quite apparent. Over the span of the last 20 years, she has served in various capacities and roles for the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations including Chief Financial Officer.


Marilyn had been instrumental in the coordination and development of AFOA Saskatchewan and AFOA Canada. During her tenures with the associations, she had served as the Vice-President and President of AFOA Saskatchewan and Chairperson of AFOA Canada. She also served as the Vice-Chair for the First Nations Financial Management Board.


Because of her outstanding leadership within the First Nation Community, the Province of Saskatchewan had honoured Marilyn in 2005 with the Saskatchewan Centennial Leadership Award.


Marilyn now is an independent contractor specializing in short-term contracts providing financial and accounting solutions to First Nation communities, organizations or businesses.
